FAQ:

How do I register?

Registration is done online and will open on September 4 at 9 am Pacific Time. Space is limited for the Funduro (75 riders) and Enduro (100 riders), so act fast!

What do I get with registration?

For the Funduro and Enduro, you’ll get a race plate, lunch ticket, raffle ticket, snacks and event swag!  You’ll automatically be entered to win some pretty awesome draw prizes.

Can I get a refund if I have to cancel?

Yes! As long as there is a waitlist, we are offering refunds on your registration (minus the user registration fee). You must cancel at least one week before race day. Get in touch with us at events@mtbco.ca to cancel.

What is an Enduro (Sunday October 4)?

Check out this intro to Enduro from Pinkbike.  You’ll be climbing and descending designated trail segments.  The climbs are not timed, the descents are!   All timing will be done through Zone 4, with results tallied at the end.

What is a Funduro (Saturday October 3)?

The Fun of an Enduro, without the formal timing.  Ride pre-set, marshaled stages. Riders are released at timed intervals on descents. Two stages will be timed- participants have the option to use a chip if they would like to see their results. New for this year: riders can choose which of the 4 green and blue stages they complete, to allow for more riders to try this event.

Do I have to be an advanced rider to participate?

No - the Funduro is on blue (intermediate) and green (beginner) trails, the Enduro on blue and black (advanced). You can participate regardless of your level but we do recommend that you are able to ride multiple climbs and spend the day on your bike. Trails may be challenging, but we encourage everyone to come out and give it their all. If you want to walk a more difficult section, that is totally fine. Just let the course marshal at the top know that you would like to leave extra space between you and the next rider.

How do I know what trails will be part of the event?

Courses will be released on September 18 with plenty of time for pre-riding.  The Funduro on Saturday will be primarily blue and green trails.  The Enduro on Sunday will include blue and black trails.

What do I need to know if I’ve never raced before?

The downhill timed sections will have riders starting at timed intervals – at least 30 seconds between each rider.  If you know you’re going to be fast, seed yourself before slower riders when possible. If you’re going to relax and cruise with friends, we recommend you let faster riders go first, and ask for extra time between you and the rider behind you.

Passing: If someone is coming up behind you on a timed downhill section, please step aside as soon as you can and let them go by. If you’re the one coming up on someone else, please yell out “RIDER” to let them know you’re coming, and only pass when safe to do so.

Can I use an e-bike?

Class 1 e-bikes are welcome in both events - please register for the appropriate category for the Enduro race.

Why don’t you have a pro/elite category for the Enduro?

The MTBCO Events Committee is committed to grassroots, community driven events.  The season has had plenty of opportunities for elite racers to compete - this weekend is geared to those wanting some fun competition or an introduction to what racing is all about.  Are you an elite racer?  Join us as a volunteer to help make the weekend a success!
