Your Trails

West Kelowna:

We'd like to thank Pacific Rim Equipment for their very kind donation of an excavtor for a week. It helped us seizes the opportunity to get some building done in great weather.

Feel The Love got some love, and Jump Alley was reworked to give a near bike park experience. The Entry Boner now has the buttery smooth transition that it deserved and the jumps are great for progression. FOMO has had a lot of work done on the berms, you may notice a few more "yews and yips" in the new section.

The trail fairies have also created a few new bench's and a bike stand at the top of FTL. Pictured below is an example of how to use this new stand. Thanks to everyone for their huge contributions last month!

Kelowna

We had our first community trail day at Knox on March 28th, and were able to rake the  upper/lower Shale and rebuild a berm on lower Simpsons to increase flow. We had a great turnout of about 25 volunteers and were able to have a get-together after, thanks to new sponsor Rustic Reel!

Trail Fit Tuesday's are kicking off every other Tuesday starting April 7th at Gillard, run by Cam Lainchbury. Please make sure to check in with him on arrival so we can track volunteer hours and show our appreciation at the end of the year. There is an uncoming volunteer Trail Day at Gillard on April 25th. To help thank members for their hard work, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided by for all diggers.

Last but not least, Crawford parking lot is getting close to completion! We’re looking forward to better and safer parking this season.

Lake Country:

We had a couple of great Trail Build days on March 21st and 22nd. Thanks to the 14 volunteers who showed up each day! Jack Seaton received a nice re-buff and with some new fun added mini-doubles and fins to keep the lines fast and flowy. We also spent some time focused on what we are currently calling Switchback Hill. It will enable us to link the Lake Country bike park to the Okanagan lake! Future work will entail adding some air time to the trail but for now ensuring its a rideable peddle up and down has been the focus.

Lake Country bike park is open! Officially opened on March 21st - the park is humming and looking great. Contour Trails did some pre-season work and re-worked jumps and berms adding to an already amazing zone. Worth a trip from anywhere in the Okanagan to get your air sense ready for the season.

Finally, we are making some exciting progress on the potential of a new bike zone for the Okanagan Valley; in Oyama! We’re partnering with the Westbank First Nations to ensure the opportunities to develop are in alignment with the respective Indigenous groups. We are currently working through Archaeological and Environmental and assessments. More to come, so stay tuned.
